Goa: Jamshedpur FC showed powers of recovery after going down to 10-men in the first half holding league leaders Mumbai City FC to a 1-1 draw in the GMC Stadium, in Bambolim, Goa. Nerijus Valskis once again scored for Jamshedpur while Bartholomew Ogbeche scored for Mumbai.

The match started with a promise as Jamshedpur was not a side whom Mumbai will pile upon and beat. The team has solidity in their backline and also a Valskis in front to score for them.

Valskis opened the scoring in the ninth minute against the run of play. It didn’t take more than six minutes for the Islanders to strike back as Ogbeche equalised. However, things turned worse for Jamshedpur Aitor Monroy was sent off in the 26th minute following a second booking.

Mumbai pulled the trigger but failed to capitalise on the chances. From then till the last minute, Mumbai attacked will all guns blazing but the absence of Hugo Boumous was felt in the top half and Jamshedpur ultimately survived the tough test.

Jamshedpur coach, Owen Coyle will be a happy man after this draw. He and his side stopped a team who has won their last four outings, that too with 10-men. Sergio Lobera wouldn’t like the fact that he couldn’t capitalise on the chances his team has created in this match. But one point will make him happy in this long league.

Mumbai, still stay at the top with 14 points after six matches. Whereas, Jamshedpur move to sixth with seven points after their sixth outing this season.
