Yuvraj Singh pens a heartfelt note for Sanjay Dutt; wishes him speedy recovery

Mumbai: Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh took to Twitter on Tuesday to post a heartfelt message to veteran  Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, who was diagnosed with lung cancer, and wished him a speedy recovery.

Yuvraj, who himself has overcome cancer just after he led India to the World Cup title in 2011, wrote, “You are, have and always will be a fighter @duttsanjay. I know the pain it causes but I also know you are strong and will see this tough phase through. My prayers and best wishes for your speedy recovery.”

Reports of Dutt being diagnosed with stage 3 cancer emerged on Tuesday evening, and wishes for the Bollywood actor poured in. Dutt is expected to leave for the United States for ‘immediate and rigorous treatment’, reports said. On Tuesday, the 61-year-old actor took to Twitter and announced a short break from his work.

Yuvraj too underwent treatment in the United States and defeated the illness and went onto make a comeback in international cricket. Yuvraj’s bout with cancer is often retold as one of the most inspirational stories in sport. Yuvraj announced his retirement last year after playing 40 Tests, 278 ODIs and 58 T20Is scoring 1900, 8701 and 1177 runs respectively.
