Wriddhiman Saha reflects why Bengal fails to win Ranji Trophy

Kolkata : Former Bengal keeper Wriddhiman Saha has thrown light on why Bengal doesn’t win Ranji Trophy.

Every year it can be seen either Bengal being knocked out from Ranji Trophy knock outs or group stage.

Despite having talents like Sudip Gharami, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Akash Deep, Anustup Majumdar, Mukesh Kumar, Abhishek Porel, Ishan Porel and so on, Bengal fails to win Ranji Trophy, having won the title 35 years ago.

Wriddhiman Saha in an exclusive interview with Sportslight Media stated that every player as a group needs to consistently perform and contribute to the team’s cause. This is where Bengal is lacking.

Saha said, “Whenever a team plays knockouts/final, throughout the season, they require good performance, if they don’t, they won’t pass group league. Sometimes individual brilliance wins you few matches, but it’s not possible throughout the season. That’s why everyone has to perfom /contribute consistently, that’s where Bengal are lacking and aren’t crossing the line. That’s where improvement is needed”.
