London: Italy’s journey to the final of the Euro 2020 is surely a result of a superb team effort. However, there’s no denying that goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma played a huge part as well. The young Azzuri sensation has been one of the standout players of this team performing well in the quarter-final against Belgium and then again in the semifinal where he made crucial saves in the penalty shoot-out to deny Spain.

However, besides his astounding presence between the posts, another thing that has grabbed a lot of attention is the gloves the 22-year-old is wearing. As per reports, the specially designed gloves manufactured by a known sports apparel brand Adidas had 288 spikes on the fist.
Priced at a whopping 100 euros, the Adidas Predator Pro gloves provide goalkeepers an advantage while punching the ball especially during dealing with dangerous crosses. The spiked design is to allow goalkeepers to enjoy greater distance and accuracy on their punches with enhanced power and control.
Besides Donnarumma, the likes of Spanish David de Gea and German Manuel Neuer also wear similar kind of gloves. The Predator range is most well-known for its football boots, which were made famous by former England stars David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and others.
Donnarumma, who is termed as the heir of their legendary custodian Gianluigi Buffon certainly made the most of this as Italy have conceded only three goals in the tournament so far while keeping their superb unbeaten run going.
