West Indies captain Kieron Pollard announces sudden retirement from international cricket

Mumbai: Legendary West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard on Wednesday (April 20) announced retirement from international cricket. The 34-year-old has called time on his 15 year long international career.

Kieron Pollard took to social media on Wednesday to announce his retirement. “As I move on and make room for those who will carry the game forward in West Indies colours, know that I will always be supporting in whatever way I can. It is with profound gratitude for living my dream that I now raise my bat in salute to all that is West Indies cricket,” Pollard said in a statement on social media.

Pollard, who made his international debut in South Africa in 2007. He played his last international game against India in Kolkata on February 20. Pollard, who was the captain of West Indies’ limited-overs teams played a total of 123 ODIs and 101 T20Is.

He has been retained by the Mumbai franchise for the 2014 edition of the Indian T20 League. He continued to be an integral part of the Mumbai Indians team in the Indin Premier League foe several years now and was retained by the franchise ahead of the mega auction in February this year.
