Nitish Rana had forgettable outing against his former team (Delhi). Not only did he score just 2 runs but also saw his side being crushed out of the tournament losing by 19 runs to Delhi. He also conceded 23 runs off 3 overs, taking a wicket. More importantly, his on field spat with former teammate Ayush Badoni (current Delhi skipper) became topic of discussion all over India.
It happened in the 13th over of the first innings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Badoni was new to the crease after Rana had ended the 81-run opening stand between Priyansh Arya and Yash Dhull by dismissing Arya for 44 off 31.
The Rana-Badoni clash began when Rana pulled out of his delivery stride at the start 13th over. In the next ball, Badoni pulled out of his Batting stance as Rana ran in to bowl.
Badoni then sent down the following ball down the leg side for a single. As Badoni ran towards the non-striker’s end, Rana moved across the crease so that the batter directly ran into his path, leaving Badoni to slow down.
This seemingly triggered the heat, after which the 2 exchanged words in fiery scene, also involved death stares from both players as the on-umpire rushed to end the conflict.
However, Badoni had the last laugh in the game, as he led Delhi to defend 194 runs, only letting UP to score 174, crashing them out and thereby Delhi marching into semifinal.
Not only this, Badoni also took wicket of Nitish Rana for just 2 runs. Delhi will next face Madhya Pradesh in semifinal 2 at Bengaluru on December 13, 2024.
