Mumbai: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star Rinku Singh Played an match-winning innings 66-run stand with Nitish Rana (48 not out) as Kolkata Knight Riders defeated in-form Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets to end their five-match losing streak in the ongoing Indian Premier League on Monday.

Singh is slowly but surely becoming a household name thanks to his unbeaten batting exploits in the ongoing IPL 2022. The cricketer from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh has been in good form for Kolkata Knight Riders for the past couple of games. His unbeaten knock helped his team emerge victorious on Monday as well. But more sensational than the knock itself, was the prediction he made for himself.

In a conversation with Nitish Rana after the match, Rinku admitted that he had written ’50’ on his palms before going to sleep. Rana asked Rinku “What have you written on your hands?” to which Rinku replied, “I was getting a feeling that I will score runs and get Player of the Match today. And I wrote 50 runs on my hand and drew a heart.” The 24 year old revealed.

Rinku also revealed that he had made the prediction before the match and had a feeling that he was going to do well vs RR.
“There was a feeling from the inside. I was waiting for a long time to get a Player of the Match. It came after 5 years but it came at last.” he added.

All though Rinku did not manage to get to his maiden IPL fifty but his unbeaten 42 off just 23 balls changed the momentum in KKR’s favour. The left-hander came into bat when 92 for 3 in 12.5 overs, still needing 61 runs in 43 balls. Rinku’s other prediction, about getting a Player of the Match award however, became true. While Nitish scored 48 runs off 37 deliveries to guide KKR to a crucial win with five balls to spare.

Speaking at the post match ceremony, Singh said,” A lot of players have played Ranji from Aligarh, but I am the first to play the IPL. This is a big league and there is a lot of pressure obviously. I have been waiting for the last five years to get a chance. I worked very hard, came back from injury and did well in the domestic circuit as well.”

Singh, who was adjudged the Player of the Match award also expressed gratitude towards his teammates and said, “When I was batting, Bhaiyya (Rana) and Baz (McCullum) told me to stay till the end and finish it,” Rinku Singh said after the match.”

This was KKR’s fourth win in 10 games. They are currently placed seventh in the IPL Points table. KKR will next face off against Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday at the Maharashtra Cricket Stadium.
