Mumbai: Former India cricketer VVS Laxman opined Ravindra Jadeja as the third-best allrounder in the world after Ben Stokes of England and West Indies’ Jason Holder in Tests. He also lauded the Indian for his progress over the last few years.

Jadeja has emerged as one of the most dependable players in the Indian side over the years establishing himself as one of the mainstays. He has contributed to the team with both the bat and the ball and is making it to the list of the top allrounders in the world.

“I think for me, it’s Ben Stokes who is the No.1 Test allrounder in the world, No.2 will be Jason Holder and Ravindra Jadeja will be No.3 after those two. The way he batted in this Test match shows that he’s got a lot of change in his temperament, in his mindset,” Laxman said.

Laxman reckoned that Jadeja has grown so much as a player in the last few years. After scoring a half-century in the first Test against England, helping India to get a vital lead of 95-runs in the first innings, Jadeja added valuable 40 runs to the team’s account in the second Test at the Lord’s as well. Over time, Jadeja became one of the most valuable assets for India.

“I think he is showing and displaying a lot more temperament to be successful in trying conditions against quality fast bowlers. But for me a great all-rounder is one who straightaway walks into the Playing XI, either as a batsman or a bowler. Now, Jadeja doesn’t do that,” he added.
