New Delhi: Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan thinks that captain Virat Kohli has the capacity to break the record of 100 international centuries set by legendary Sachin Tendulkar. The Master Blaster has 51 Test and 49 ODI tons. Kohli, who also captains Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL has already broken several records, and Pathan is confident that he can crack this record too.

Kohli is currently third on the list of most number of international centuries with 43 in ODIs and 27 in Tests, one shy of former Australian cricketer-turned-commentator Ricky Ponting. Pathan revealed that Kohli doesn’t talk much about his achievements and mainly focused on team achievements.

“I am sure Virat Kohli might be thinking about 100 hundreds. He might not be talking about it but you know if anyone can achieve that feat after Sachin Tendulkar, he is the one. He has achieved so much in such little time and I hope if anyone breaks the record of those 100 hundreds,” Pathan said.

He added, “Because I was a part of Sachin Paaji’s journey when he scored that 100th hundred. So I hope if anyone breaks the record, it has to be an Indian player.”
Virat Kohli has the ability and fitness levels to break Tendulkar’s record.”

“Virat Kohli has the ability and fitness which is the most important thing to be able to achieve that feat. I think he is 30 short of that 100 hundreds and I think he will be able to achieve it before he retires. I really hope so and that is the target that he will have in his mind,” said the younger of Pathan brothers.

Kohli will be seen playing for RCB in the 13th edition of IPL which is scheduled to be held in the UAE across three venues – Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Dubai beginning from September 19 to November 10.
