UCL 2021-22: Manchester United to face Atletico Madrid after round 16 draw redone

Nyon: The round of 16 draws of the UEFA Champions League this season in Nyon, Switzerland on Monday turned out to be a drastic one as it was done twice after the initial draw saw Manchester United ended up being drawn against French giants Paris Saint-Germain. However, the French giants have now been locked in with Real Madrid.

The Red Devils, on the other hand, were then paired with Spanish sides Atletico Madrid after the second draw.

Interestingly, only one of the eight pairings came out the same in both processes which defending champion Chelsea playing against Ligue-1 side Lille.

Germans machine Bayern Munich, who were such a dominant side in the group stage were paired with Atletico earlier but will now lock horns with Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg who making its debut at this stage.

Six time winners Liverpool, who had been paired will now be drawn to face Inter Milan in a mouth-watering knock-out clash.

Defending English champions Manchester City who topped their group swapping PSG were to face Villareal after the 1st draw but are going take on Portuguese side Sporting CP. Villareal on the other hand will take on Italian giants Juventus who were to face Sporting initially. The First-leg games are played over two midweeks from Feb. 15-23 while the return legs are from March 8-16.
