Tokyo: India’s Manish Narwal and Singhraj Adhana finished one-two on the podium in the P4 Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 event on Saturday at the Tokyo Olympics. While Narwal bagged India’s third gold at the Paralympics, compatriot Adhana took silver.

The 19-year-old Narwal also set a new Paralympic record with 218.2 points, while Singhraj won his second medal in Tokyo with 216.7 points. Sergey Malyshev of the Russian Olympic Committee won bronze with 196.8.

At the Asaka Shooting Range, Adhana qualified for the medal round in the fourth position with a total of 536, while Narwal qualified in seventh place with a total of 533. When it mattered most, Singhraj and Narwal stood up, as both shooters held their nerves against the Chinese pair’s early surge in the elimination stage.

After the 18th shot, Narwal slid to fourth place. However, in his 19th and 20th shots, the youngster hit a spectacular 10.8 and 10.5 to beat Singhraj to first place. In a battle for gold with a fellow countryman, Narwal shot 8.4 and 9.1, while Singhraj shot 8.5 and 9.4 in his final two shots.

The other Indian in the competition, Akash, finished 27th in the qualifying round and did not advance to the final.
