Liverpool: Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara has joined Liverpool from Bayern Munich on a four-year deal. According to sources, the transfer fee is reported to be 30 million euros (add ons included). The 29-year-old will leave Bayern after his contract with the Bavarian club was to expire next summer and had been linked with several clubs for the past couple of months. Liverpool unveiled the signing on social media with him wearing the club’s new kit. He will wear the no.6 jersey.

Thiago joined the Bayern in 2013 from his boyhood club Barcelona and since then he was an integral part of the Bavarian side’s dominance helping them to win seven Bundesliga titles, 4 DFB Pokal and the Champions League last season finishing with a treble.

He posted an emotional farewell post on social media thanking his teammates and everyone for the love and support. He is long considered one of the best midfielders in the world and also happens to be the son of 1994 World Cup winner Mazinho. That famous quote from Pep Guardiola, then manager of Bayern which came out. ”Its Thiago or nothing” will certainly be remembered by the Bayern fans.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had a keen eye on the little maestro for some time and this signing will surely add dynamism to the Liverpool midfield alongside Gini Wijnaldum, Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson. Thiago’s skill, composure and eye for a pass will surely lift the spirit of the Anfield crowd.
