Sydney: Glenn McGrath, the great Australian pacer, tested positive for Covid-19 days before the fourth Ashes Test between Australia and England. In honor of his late wife Jane, who died of breast cancer, the Sydney Test will be known as the Pink Test.

The Pink Test is a charity event that raises money to help cancer sufferers. Jane McGrath Day is the third day of the New Year’s Test of the Ashes.

McGrath’s recovery time for the Pink Test event on the third day of the 4th Test in Sydney is yet unknown. On the other hand, he will be virtually present when players from both England and Australia receive their baggy pink caps.

“Glenn has had a PCR test which unfortunately returned a positive result,” McGrath Foundation chief executive Holly Masters was quoted as saying.

“We wish Glenn and his family good health.

“We are grateful to our partners at Cricket Australia and the SCG. As well as the England cricket team and the broadcasters for their ongoing support for the Pink Test and look forward to still making this the ‘pinkest’ Ashes,” she added.

By holding an insurmountable 3-0 lead in the five-match series, Australia has already reclaimed the Ashes Urn. It will, however, be a crucial Test for England and their captain, Joe Root, who is under a lot of pressure.

Meanwhile, Nathan Lyon has issued a whitewash warning to England, claiming that Australia is aiming to win the series 5-0 and advance to the World Test Championship final.
