T20 World Cup 2021: MS Dhoni’s 7-year old Tweet goes viral after Pakistan maul India

Dubai: Pakistan finally broke their 30-year-old World Cup jinx against India outplaying their arch-rivals by 10 in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup in Dubai on Sunday. As Pakistan was nearing their victory, social media was soon lit up with memes and Tweets going viral.

Amidst these berserk moments, one such tweet by former Team India captain and current mentor MS Dhoni got viral across Twitter with several around the cricketing fraternity retweeting it with unique funny quotes of their own as well.

The tweet itself from Dhoni takes to March 24, 2014, when he wrote, “Doesn’t matter which team wins, I’m here for entertainment.”

The netizens though were quick to react to this digging into the tweet and respond to Dhoni.
Someone said, “Screenshot this.” While another replied, “Don’t apply this for cricket…. bring back the cup for India for sure.”

However, according to a few fans, the tweet might appeared to have been made in reference to the football game in Spain where La Liga giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona played an el-Classico fixture with teams were led by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi at the time and Barcelona had won the fixture 4-3 at the time, thanks to a Messi hattrick.

Incidentally though, last Sunday, Real Madrid did play Barcelona in El Classico but this without Ronaldo and Messi with Real winning it 2-1.

Meanwhile, Pakistan though put up a splendid performance in the big game. They showed their character and executed their plan well. Their bowlers had a stellar outing led by seamer Shaheen Afridi with his 3/31 which helped India restrict to 151/7. India skipper Virat Kohli was the lone warrior with his knock of 57 and was aided by Rishabh Pant scoring a 30 ball 39. However, Pakistan chased it down with ease with Babar Azam(68*) and Mohammad Rizwan(79*) starring for the side.
