Abu Dhabi: Mohan Singh, the chief curator of the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, died only hours before Afghanistan’s match against New Zealand T20 World Cup on Sunday.

Sources in UAE Cricket disclosed the tragic incident to PTI, while the cause of his death is unknown. A more thorough statement is scheduled to be issued soon.

“It happened today and full details will be revealed when things are more clear. It is very unfortunate,” according to a source.

“He was a bight kid when he came to me. A very talented and hardworking person. He hailed from Garhwal and also remember him as a family man”, said, former BCCI chief curator Daljit Singh.

“After he went to the UAE, he used to come visit every time he was in the country but I had not seen him for a while. Gone too soon and it is really tragic,” Daljit added.

Mohan spent a lot of time in Mohali with Daljit Singh before going to the UAE in the early 2000s. Daljit, who had been a part of Indian cricket for 22 years, was taken aback when he learned of Mohan’s death.
