Mumbai: Hard-hitting batsmen Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan and allrounder Rahul Tewatia have been named in the Indian T20I squad for the first time for the five-match series against England that begins on March 12.

The squad also has the returning Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Varun Chakarvarthy, while the injured Manish Pandey, Sanju Samson, and Mayank Agarwal are among the names who miss out from the squad that traveled to Australia for the T20s late last year. Jasprit Bumrah is also not part of the squad.

Yadav and Kishan have played a pivotal part in Mumbai Indians’ title-winning campaign last year performing on a consistent basis. Kishan even scored 173 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy hours before the squad announcement and has long been seen as a potential Indian player since breaking through with the U-19 team.

The 27-year-old Tewatia too made headlines with his stellar performances in the last IPL, particularly an innings where he went from struggling on 5 off 13 to hit six sixes off his last eight balls to take Rajasthan Royals to victory against Punjab Kings.

Varun Chakravarthy, who missed out on the Australia flight due to injury has been added to the squad.

Squad: Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Rahul Tewatia, T Natarajan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini, Shardul Thakur.
