Kolkata: The inconsistencies between SC East Bengal and their investors aren’t new to the public. While there have been many instances in the past regarding the same, the current rift between the Red and Gold officials and Sree Cement is taking too long to be solved.

SC East Bengal co-owner and Sree Cement MD Hari Mohan Bangur has already admitted the uncertain future of the club stating the club officials are yet to sign the final document. However, amidst all these, sources in the mix have revealed that the Kolkata giants have been May 31 deadline to clear all the mess.

“We have heard that Sree Cement has given SC East Bengal time till May 31 to do all the paperwork that is being delayed,” a source close to the developments told this website on conditions of anonymity. Earlier, the club officials have claimed that certain parts of the agreement signed by both parties are inconsistent.

In reply, Sree Cement has replied asking which part of the agreement are they finding inconsistent. Sree Cement’s association with Red and Gold happened last year, when the Kolkata giants were looking for investors to participate in the cash-rich Indian Super League. By that time, arch-rivals Mohun Bagan have already merged with ATK and confirmed their place in the 2020-21 ISL.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee played a key role in ensuring East Bengal’s entry into the top flight ISL as the 11th team. Reports suggest that the matter has already reached Mamata’s ears and she is likely to resolve the issue.
