Kuala Lumpur: South Korea and Indonesia have withdrawn from the next month’s Thomas and Uber Cup Finals in Denmark from October 3-11 due to Coronavirus related issues, Badminton World Federation (BWF) confirmed in a statement on Saturday (September 12th).

Earlier, Australia, Taiwan and Thailand have also decided to give the tournament a miss. Thailand announced their withdrawal earlier this week citing injuries and virus-related causes. The Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) said it was concerned that players would contract the virus during the tournament. The PBSI also confirmed that its players wouldn’t play in the Denmark Open and Denmark Masters going to take place in October.

The Thomas and Uber Cup was scheduled to happen in May, which had been postponed to August due to the Coronavirus outbreak before being moved to the new dates when the Denmark government expanded the ban for vast gatherings. Replacement teams for the tournament are yet to be announced.
