Kolkata: Former Indian cricket and BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly is most likely to step down from being a member of the Board of ATK Mohun Bagan following a conflict of interest as hinted by Sanjiv Goenka.

“Well, I think he is going to step down from Mohun Bagan completely… I think today,” Goenka said to CNBC-TV18.

Goenka-owned RPSG group have won the bids for the new IPL team of Lucknow for Rs 7090 crores, on Monday, and following the announcement Sourav was seen congratulating the new owners.

“I would like to congratulate RPSG Ventures Ltd. & Irelia Company Pte Ltd for being the successful bidders… It is heartening to see the inclusion of two new teams at such a high valuation.” said the BCCI President.

Goenka is also the principal owner of the Indian Super League playing team ATK Mohun Bagan and hinted at Sourav’s resignation over a conflict of interest. However, upon realizing he had spoken too soon Goenka declined from continuing the conversation any further.

“It is for Sourav to make the announcement. I mean, sorry. I think I pre-empted it.”

There has not been any concrete news of Sourav’s resignation yet but the affair doesn’t seem to be too far away.
