Seville: An own goal by Sevilla keeper Yassine Bounou on 55 minutes helped Real Madrid beat Sevilla 1-0 in La Liga on Saturday (December 5) away from home. Zinedine Zidane was under immense pressure after two back to back defeats. They last played Shakhtar Donestk in the Champions League losing0-2.
Zidane’s men almost scored inside a minute after Rodrygo played through on goal to Vinicus Jr., but the shot from the winger went wide. The men in white almost took the lead. Sevilla also got their chance to take the lead on 33 minutes, when Jesus Navas’s cross found the head of defender Jules Kounde, the defender failed to guide it past goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois.
But in the second half, a shot from Vinicius Jr. was turned in by Bounou to send the Los Blancos into the lead. This was the only and decisive goal during the match. With this win Real rise to the third position in the La Liga table, they are four points behind current league leaders Real Sociedad, while Julen Lopetegui’s Sevilla are fifth in the table.
