Six-day break helped get some clarity on how to bounce back: Stephen Fleming

Dubai: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming has stated that the six-day gap for his team came has led to get transparency after making a weak start to their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 season. CSK started their opener against a win over Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi, but went through two successive defeats against Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals.

“It (six-day break) came at a good time because the first three games were in quick succession and all games were at different grounds,” Fleming told CSK website. “So you have to appreciate trying to read conditions, for each game being predominantly the first team to play there was tough. And also coming off a couple of challenges we had off the field, we’ve used this break pretty well, we got some clarity around what we need to do and have practised very well.

“It’s very helpful that we can settle in and try and read conditions at one ground and not several. I’m looking forward to putting in a bit of performance than we did the last time we played at Dubai where we were outplayed by Delhi Capitals. There were a number of areas that we weren’t happy with, and we’ve worked hard on those,” he said.

CSK is also ready to welcome the return of Ambati Rayudu with total fitness, while Fleming has said that Dwayne Bravo is also available for selection. CSK will be again seen in action against Sunrisers Hyderabad on October 2 in Dubai.
