Barcelona :Gerard Pique scored the only goal that won FC Barcelona their first UEFA Champions League game of the season, against Dynamo Kiev. With this goal, the Spaniard became the defender with highest goal in UCL alongside Roberto Carlos.
The Spain centre back scored his 16th goal in the competition. Barcelona lost their first two match of this season in UCL. Losing both the matches against Bayern Munich and Benfica with a 3-0 scoreline. Finally, in their must win match to stay in the competition the veteran centre back scored the lone goal.
Following the match, Shakira, the long term partner of Gerard Pique and a famous songwriter and singer congratulated him on social media. Shakira and Pique have two two sons together, Sasha (5) and Milan (8). They have been with each other over a decade,having met during the filming of Waka Waka video, during 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Shakira posted a picture on social media with the message ,”The defender with the most goals in the history of the Champions League. This man is on 🔥 Gerard Piqué.”
The famous singer have often come out and praised Pique on social media platforms. Another such incident was when Pique took a massive pay cut to allow the new signings of FC Barcelona to be registered. The Colombian Pop star praised her partner’s commitment to both Barcelona and also towards his family.
She wrote, “Very proud of you @3gerardpique! Your team, your club as well as us, your family, can always count on you whenever we need u!”
