Rome: Italian top flight Serie A have reportedly decided ban green kits to be worn by the teams following change in the regulations. As per reports, it will only apply to outfield players taking its effect from the 2022-23 season onwards. The new rule will applicable for the socks and shorts as well. It further states that, if more than three colours are being used in the kits, then there must be a dominant colour across the shirts, shorts and socks.

According to reports, the television companies have recently opened up about the change because they think the green kits and the colour of the pitch are too similar, therefore causing players to blend in with turf making it difficult to distinguish the players for television viewers.

There were few clubs last season who donned green kits which would not go with the new rules such as Lazio’s away strip of Lime Green and Atalanta’s special Christmas tree design. Fortunately, the announcement coming a year early, thus giving the clubs time to rethink their kits for next season.

On the other hand, clubs like Sassuolo, and Venezia, have green in their emblem. Sassuolo, known as the Neroverdi, have combination of green and black in their home kit while Venezia usually wear a stripe orange, green and black jersey. It is still not confirmed for now as whether these two side will be forced to change colours considering the fact that their strip is not all green but rather a combination.
