Scottish side Rangers FC sign partnership with Star Sports

Glasgow: Scottish footballing powerhouse Rangers FC have signed a breakthrough deal with leading Indian broadcasters Star Sports for securing rights holders for Scottish Premier Football League in Indian Market through their strategic partnership.

This meant that the SPFL 2020/21season will be broadcasted in India. Alongside that, Rangers who forged a widespread partnership with Star Sports will give access of their behind the scene content, live matches, training and the exclusive airing of the friendly matches at the Ibrox stadium between Bengaluru FC and Rangers FC.

“From the outset we were sure about partnering with a club with whom we could create meaningful opportunities. This agreement to bring the SPFL and Rangers to television screens in India through Star Sports is a big reinforcement of our joining of hands with Rangers. We also have the pre-season planned in Glasgow next year that involves a game with Rangers, and that’s something big to look forward to, expressed Bengaluru FC CEO, Mandar Tamhane.

The two clubs signed a multi-faced strategic partnership back in September 2019 for the development of Football with commercial opportunities for both the clubs with Rangers signing Indian National women team’s captain and top scorer Bala Devi.

Star Sports, based in Mumbai which is owned by Walt Disney Company holds the broadcasting rights of the English Premier League, Indian Premier League, Indian Super League, Indian Football Team, French Open, US Open, Wimbledon reaching an audience of 800 million Viewers.
