Barcelona: Since his arrival as the head coach of Barcelona, Ronald Koeman promised to get rid of all the ‘deadwoods’ and bring in players who ‘fits’ in his plan for the Blaugranes for the upcoming season.

Previously, he wanted to sign the dutch players  Georgino Wijnaldum and Memphis Depay from Liverpool and Olympique Lyonnais respectively. Currently, he is worried about the backline of his team. His next target is Ajax defender Sergino Dest. He is unsure about Nelson Semedo as the suitable right back and wants the 19-year-old American, in his team.

Dest had a breakthrough season for Ajax after his debut in 2019-20. The addition of Dest would provide more stability to the back four, as Koeman must be looking forward to strengthening his squad. FC Barcelona went trophy-less for the very first time since 2013-14, and moreover the humiliation faced since their defeat to Bayern Munich had been a nightmare for them.

Dest signed a new contract in 2018, which keeps him at Ajax till 2023. The deal can only go through if Barcelona can sell Semedo, as the Ajax defender is going to cost around €20m.

The Blaugranes are ready to accept a good offer for the Portuguese right-back, who had been linked to Wolves. Dest also has offers from the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester City, but Koeman wants this to be his first signing for the Catalans.
