Kolkata : Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 4-0 at Santiago Bernabeu in El Clasico clash at La Liga 2024-25. Following the clash, Lamine Yamal made bold statement regarding post match.
Hansi Flick’s side dominated Real Madrid in 2nd half scoring 4 goals. Lewandowski scored a brace in 2 minutes, followed by Yamal and Raphinha.
Yamal also became the youngest player in El Clasico to score a goal at just 17 years and 105 days, Yamal now holds this record, surpassing teammate Ansu Fati, who previously set it at 17 years and 359 days with his 2020 goal against Real Madrid.
Known for his strong left footers, Yamal bagged this incredible goal with his ‘weak‘ right foot angling it perfectly inside the net.
Following this feat, Yamal remarked playfully that probably Real Madrid players probably didn’t know he has a right foot too & therefore he used it during the match.
“Maybe Real Madrid players didn’t know I also have a right foot… So I should use it when needed, like tonight!” Yamal told Cope, via Fabrizio Romano on X.
The 17 years old also silenced the critics claiming that Barcelona only defeated mid table teams.
He said, “We believe we are the best team in the world. They said we were beating only normal teams… now we beat Real Madrid 4-0 at their home. We’ve proven that we can beat anyone”.
Barcelona also defeated Bayern 4-1 couple of days earlier and made a huge statement regarding their new form and phase.
