Kolkata : Temba Bavuma has led South Africa to first win in an ICC event since 1998 CT win, defeating Australia in WTC Final 2025. He also played crucial knock and did important bowling changes that eventually led the Proteas to victory.
Underrated as captain Bavuma faced numerous trolling, racial abuse, physical abuse despite doing well for South Africa both as leader and captain. They longed for an ICC event and finally touched it.
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has backed Bavuma and rebuked all such trolls.
He said, ” Trolling doesn’t matter, it’s for people who doesn’t have work. Very proud of him (Bavuma), very proud of South Africa because it’s a great advertisement for World Cricket that we’ve a new champion. The World Cricket needs strong team, it’s good to see. Australia didn’t Bat well in 2nd innings, they’ve qualified for many finals, they can lose some”.
