Eibar: Real Madrid defeated Eibar 3-1 away from home and kept up the pace with Atletico Madrid with their fifth victory in a row in all competitions on Monday (December 21). The visitors took an early lead when Rodrygo’s chip travelled over Eibar’s defence and Karim Benzema settled the pass and shot it past Marko Dmitrovic on six minutes.

Benzema then assisted Madrid’s second goal a few minutes later as he played off a perfectly weighted pass for Luka Modric to hit it past Dmitrovic to double their lead on 13 minutes.

Eibar however pulled one back on 28 minutes when a poor giveaway by the Los Blancos landed at the feet of Kike, who curled it over Thibaut Courtois’ head to make the scoreline 2-1.

For the major part of the second half, Real Madrid dominated possession with a few occasional threats from the hosts, although both the teams failed to score any further from their fair share of chances.

Lucas Vazquez added the third goal right during the added-on minutes. With this win Real levelled points with leaders Atletico, who have a superior goal difference over them in the table.
