Madrid: Austrian defender is set for a move to Real Madrid as the Los Blancos agreed for a free transfer. As per reports, the 28-year-old penned a five year contract worth 10.5m Euros per year with the Spanish giants after leaving Bayern Munich. The club announced the signing on social media on Friday (May 28).
Alaba started out in the academy of Austria Wien in his homeland before joining Bayern Munich back in 2008. After coming through youth ranks of the Bavarian side, he established as of the best left backs in the world appearing 431 times for them while netting 33 goals. He was an ever present character in the Bayern squad that won the treble back in 2013 while acquiring the same again in 2020 alongside six German Cups and couple of FIFA Club World Cup titles. Such was his quality and dynamism, that he even played as a centre back in the last couple of season.

Real Madrid , known for their reputation bringing in superstars to the Santiago Bernabéu have certainly made on which can boost their squad with quality and experience. He is also capable of playing in defensive midfield which could add an option for Casemiro making him off his load a bit. Alaba will be officially unveiled after the UEFA EURO ends in July.
