Dubai: Ravichandran Ashwin has occasionally taken to social media over mistranslation of his comments on cricket and other subjects. On Thursday, the Indian spinner put an end to all the speculations that are doing rounds on social media.

Ashwin took to social media to make hilarious comments about the fake media reports, and specifically called out called out the news agency, Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) for spreading fake news against him, which allegedly claimed that he apparently complained to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) against Virat Kohli’s captaincy.

“I am searching for the handle called “Fake News”, it used to be super fun for Gossip,” Ashwin cheekily wrote on his Instagram handle.

“Oh yaaa!! Thank you guys. Found Them: I just heard they have renamed themselves and are now called IANS and some others take quotes from them too. Super fun,” he added.

Earlier, news agency IANS reported that a senior player (R Ashwin) had complained to BCCI secretary Jay Shah about Virat Kohli’s captaincy. It stated that the cricketer was feeling ‘insecure’ about his place in the team.

The rumours have continued to pile up ever since Kohli made the shocking announcement that he will step down from T20I captaincy after the upcoming T20 World Cup. Kohli stated in a statement posted to his social media accounts that he intended to limit his workload. However, he will continue to captain the squad in ODIs and Test cricket.

In the last few days, the names of Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara also surfaced, on the same matter. Ashwin is the first cricketer to have broken his silence on the rumours. Kohli himself hasn’t made any comment on the matter yet.
