Ranji Trophy Final : Day 3 : Bengal vs Saurashtra : Anushtup Majumdar – Manoj Tiwari mark Bengal’s strong comebac

Kolkata : The host Bengal stunned dominant Saurashtra with a grand comeback on Day 3 , with skipper Manoj Tiwari & star veteran Anushtup Majumdar scoring 57* (129) & 61 (101) respectively at Eden Gardens.

Starting the day with 317-5 , leading by 143 runs, Saurashtra had an upper hand over Bengal, but the morning started looking in Bengal’s favour as Bengal bowlers – Akash Deep & Mukesh Kumar struck early, breaking the partnership of Chirag Jani, Arpit Vasavada, followed by Unadkat & Prerak Mankad…. yet last wicket partnership between Dharmendrasinh Jadeja & Parth Bhut seemed to be very handy, & before Ishan Porel took the last wicket of Jadeja, Saurashtra already added 404 runs, thereby taking a lead of 230 runs.

Bengal seemed to be under pressure right from the beginning of their innings , losing top 3 players early for 47 runs, but the arrival of Manoj Tiwari & Anushtup Majumdar turned things favour of Bengal as the duo added a crucial partnership of 99 runs before Anushtup fell prey to Unadkat, for 61 runs. Skipper Manoj Tiwari kept on the fight, accompanied by Shahbaz Ahmed, scoring 57* at the end of the day & putting Bengal in a relieved position.

Bengal now stand on 169-4, trailing by 61 runs…. a handy partnership could turn things in the host’s favour
