Kolkata : Bengal is set to face Bihar at Eden Gardens, Kolkata in their 2nd Match of Ranji Trophy 2024.
Bengal tied against Uttar Pradesh on a positive note where Bengal saw Sudip Chatterjee, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Sudip Gharami score tons of runs, with former 2 scoring centuries. Mukesh Kumar and Shahbaz Ahmed starred with the Ball bagging 4-fers in 1st Innings.
On other hand, Bihar lost to Haryana by a heavy margin of an innings and 43 runs. The only positive from Bihar was Himanshu Singh who bagged a 4-fer.
In the last outing between the 2 teams previous season, Bengal hammered Bihar by whopping 204 runs.
However, veteran Wriddhiman Saha might not be available due to stiff back and Akashdeep Singh is on national duty. It will be a new challenge for Anustup Majumdar’s side to defeat Bihar and set a step further to progress into next round.
The conditions are overcast therefore, will be helpful for pacers of both the teams.
Bengal coach Laxmiratan Shukla was saying, ‘The game will be played in the morning when the sun rises. But it doesn’t seem to start at 9 am. The match may start at 11 am. The game can start again at 1 pm.
It rained a lot today. I will take a final decision on the XI after seeing the environment on Friday morning. I can’t decide the team in advance without understanding the environment’, he added.
