Kolkata : The “poster boy” of Pro Kabaddi League has announced retirement from the league on Sunday.
This decision came following the disappointing PKL auction , where Rahul, in Category D raider remained unsold. Even before the season, Rahul confirmed that this would be his last season irrespective of performance. However, he didn’t receive any bids from any of the franchises. Therefore, he hung his boots from PKL, making way for youngsters.
Rahul announced the news via his social media. He said, “As many of you know, I was not a part of the auction for Season 11 of Pro Kabaddi League, and I want to take this moment to address the questions and concerns I’ve been receiving. After 10 incredible seasons, I’ve decided to step back from the league to pave the way for new talent”.
He continued, “It’s time for the next generation of players to emerge, prove themselves, and carry forward the legacy of this sport we all love so much”.
Despite retiring from Pro Kabaddi, Rahul confirmed that he will continue to represent India and Uttar Pradesh.
“While my journey in the Pro Kabaddi League might be paused, my commitment to representing our country and my beloved Uttar Pradesh remains as strong as ever. I will continue to play in upcoming tournaments, striving to make all of you proud on the international stage,” Rahul assured.
Rahul had been one of the best raiders in Pro Kabaddi League, he was also the part of Jaipur Pink Panthers that won PKL season 9.
He is the 1st player to reach 500,700,800 Raid points in PKL. He finished his PKL career as one of the greatest player with 1106 (1045 raid points) points in 154 matches. He represented Telegu Titans, Tamil Thalaivas and Jaipur Pink Panthers over the 10 seasons. His services in making this league famous will be unforgettable.
