Manchester: It was just not a match between 22 players but also between a master and his former apprentice but the master got the better reward as Manchester City beat Arsenal 1-0 in a Premier League match here on Saturday (October 17).

Pep Guardiola set-up his side in a 3-1-4-2 formation with Rodri acting as a screening midfielder in front of a defensive trident. Full back Joao Cancelo tucked into midfield while Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden started out on the wide left with Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling upfront.

Right from the start City had the possession of the ball, dominating the game and creating opportunities in the final third. It eventually led to the opener in the 23rd minute. Aguero found Foden on the left whose shot was stopped by Bernd Leno but Sterling scored on the rebound.

Mahrez from the right-hand channel was looking sharp, dribbling and making players make mistakes and so was Bukayo Saka for Arsenal who was playing in the midfield and got his chance to score but his effort was saved brilliantly by Ederson.

Arsenal tried hard but City’s quality was just too good for them on the day. Even in the second half City were all over the Gunners most of the time. Mikel Arteta will have to sort out a few more things if he really wants to challenge for the top four spot. In the end, City rightfully took away 3 points from the match
