Priyansh Arya’s maiden ton hands Chennai Super Kings 4th consecutive loss in IPL 2025

Chandigarh : Punjab Kings defeated Chennai Super Kings by 18 Runs at Mullanpur, Chandigarh. Priyansh Arya smashed his maiden IPL ton to hand CSK their 4th consecutive defeat in IPL 2025.

Batting first, PBKS lost 5 wickets on 83 runs after 8 overs. However, Arya (103), who single handedly managed one end was now joined by Shashank Singh (52*) for important 71(34) runs partnership.

Arya smashed 103 (42), including 9 sixes and 7 boundaries. He took CSK bowlers to cleaners and completed his maiden IPL ton in 39 balls, 2nd fastest by an Indian and fastest against CSK.

After his dismissal, Marco Jansen (34*) played vital cameo along with Shashank and brought PBKS to 219-6 (20).

Chasing 220, CSK openers Devon Conway (69) & Rachin Ravindra (36) gave them steady start with 61 runs opening stand. However, Rachin and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (1) lost their wickets in quick succession on 62 runs.

Shivam Dube (42) joined Conway for 89 runs partnership and brought hopes for win. However, both slowed down during 14th over for almost 20 balls without boundaries, and eventually Dube lost his wicket to knuckle ball of Lockie Ferguson on 151 (15.5).

MS Dhoni (27) played good cameo in the end but in the last over Yash Thakur defended 28 runs including Dhoni’s wicket and eventually PBKS won the match by 18 runs.

Arya was adjourned man of the match for his heroics.
