London: 16 away match unbeaten record, top of the table after first leg in seven years, Manchester United’s glory days are on their way as they beat Fulham, 2-1 on Wednesday and settle their place at the top of the table.

After Manchester City’s victory over Aston Villa in the earlier match and Leicester City’s win over Chelsea on Tuesday, United lost their top spot for a brief period of time but a hard fought win against Fulham has brought them back to the position which they have been holding for more than a week now.

The match was one of those easier matches for United as they faced a side from the bottom half of the table but the match started on a different manner.

In the fifth minute Ademola Lookman scored pass David De Gea and Fulham went 1-0 up against all the odds. The goal happened due to Aron Wan-Bissaka’s poor positioning.

United then started to press with Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani started to link up between each other. In the 21st minute Cavani scored the equilizer from a Bruno’s cross inside the box.

United kept on pressing the five man back-line of Fulham and Areola even made two good saves in the first half.

In the second half United started the way they finished the first half. They went on attacking but were finding it difficult to break the five man defence. In the 65th minute of the match, it was a Pogba magic which helped United to take a 2-1 lead. A perfect inswing from his left foot sealed the deal for United.

Fulham came close in the late stage but couldn’t beat De Gea. Certainly this would be a historical victory for United as they would top the league for the first time in seven years after the end of the first leg. A happy moment in the red-zone of Manchester as they have started to believe in something big this season under Ole Gunner Solskjaer.
