Manchester: Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has signed a new three-year deal to stay at Old Trafford with The Red Devils with an option of extending the contract for another year, the club announced on Saturday.

“Everyone knows the feeling I have for this club, and I am delighted to have signed this new contract,” added Solskjaer. “It is an exciting time for Manchester United, we have built a squad with a good balance of youth and experienced players that are hungry for success.” he further added.

A former footballer at the club, the 48-year-old joined the record Premier League champions as a caretaker manager in December 2018 replacing Jose Mourinho for the rest of the season. He finished the season guiding them to 14 wins in 19 matches in all competitions.

Manchester United finished the season in sixth place after which he was appointed on a permanent basis on a three-year contract. Last season, United finished 12 points behind champions Manchester City claiming a spot in Champions League this season. However, they suffered a defeat at the hands of Villareal on penalties in the Europa League final.
