Kolkata : Murshidabad Kings defeated Sobisco Smashers Malda by 7 wickets at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, in opening day of Bengal Pro T20 League 2025.
Murshidabad Bowling first took early wicket of Shuvam Dey (7) & Gitimoy Basu (10). Malda’s skipper Writtick Chatterjee (30) paved comeback with an aggressive cameo. However, they kept losing wickets from other end.
Kaif Ahmed (29) & Vijay Krishna (20) tried hard but Sayed Aftab (4/22) & Sukhmeet Singh (3/26) broke the Batting order and bundled Malda for 113.
Chasing 114, youngster Ankit Chatterjee (28) & Rishabh Chaudhary (59*) built opening partnership of 50 runs. Rishabh went on to notch another 40 runs partnership with skipper Sudip Gharami (13).
Even after a fumble at the end, Rishabh stayed unbeaten to guide Murshidabad past the target in 16.2 overs, also completing his half century.
