Mumbai Indians crush Delhi Capitals to qualify into IPL 2025 Playoffs

Mumbai : Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by 59 runs at Wankhede Stadium and qualified for IPL 2025 Playoffs, ending Delhi Capitals’ hopes completely.

Batting first, MI lost 3 wickets for 58 runs in 6.4 overs.

Surya Kumar Yadav (73*) & Tilak Varma (27) notched 55 (49) partnership on turning slow track. However, MI lost 2 more wickets of Tilak and skipper Hardik Pandya (3) for 123-5 (16.3).

The match turned in last 2 overs where MI pair of Naman Dhir (24*) and Surya smashed 27 runs (Mukesh Kumar) and 21 runs (Dushmantha Chameera) in 19th and 20th over respectively, bringing MI score to 180-5 (20).

Chasing 181, DC never looked settled and began losing wickets at regular intervals of time.

With 65-5 (9.2), a small partnership of 38 runs between Sameer Rizvi (39) & Ashutosh Sharma (18) kept hopes alive, but they’re soon dismissed by Mitchell Santner and DC were bundled on 121 (18.2).

Santner and Jasprit Bumrah picked 3-fers each.

Surya with an innings of 73*(43) including 4 sixes and 7 boundaries was awarded Man of the Match.
