Goa: After ATK Mohun Bagan’s victory over Jamshedpur FC on Sunday has helped them to reach the top of the table for now, Mumbai City FC would be racing for the top spot as they would take on Bengaluru FC at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim on Monday.

Mumbai has spent the Lion share of time at the top of the league but their recent performance haven’t been up to the mark. Conceding goals have been a problem for the Islanders lately and they have to check on that to finish at the top of the table.

Bengaluru, are having the worst season since their joining in 2017-18 season. Sergio Lobera and his boys would be eager for a win against this opponent and continue their spell at the top.

“Every game is difficult and playing with BFC is difficult because they are a team of very good players. They have motivation after the arrival of the new coach. It’s difficult but we can with this,” said Lobera in the pre-match press conference.

He further added, “I think we are in a very good situation because we have done a good job before and it’s always possible to improve and learn from our mistakes. I am proud of the attitude of the players. My team is ambitious and with this attitude, I am very positive for the coming games.”

With the AFC Champions League position up for grabs, this match is very important for the Islanders to win. The only concern would be they will miss their provider Hugo Boumous due to suspension.

On the other hand, Bengaluru would be looking to bounce back after their poor outing against ATKMB. The former Champions would be looking for a well-placed finish in the league table after the traumatic season they had.

“The results are going in everybody’s favor not only ours. It’s important we stay focused. Our defense been a concern but we are working on us,” said their interim coach, Nausad Moosa “We have three games. We have to stay positive and play good football and try and get the three points,” he further added.
