PARIS: Miguel Ángel López claimed the stage 17 of the Tour de France 2020.The 26 years old Colombian rider from the Astana Pro Team finished top at the summit of Col de la Loze beating Primoz Roglic of Jumbo Visma by 15 seconds.This victory meant that Lopez is at third in overall while Roglic is still at top with Tadej Pogacar holding the second spot. Surprisingly Rigoberto Urán who started the stage in third was almost two minutes behind at the end.
The race began without the defending champion Egan Bernal of Ineos Grenadiers who announced his withdrawl from the grand tour after struggling through 15th and 16th stage. Lopez started steadily before taking matters in his hands and powered away from a select group of riders on the steep slopes of the climb to the Meribel Ski Staion for the finish.

Despite finishing 2nd on the stage, Slovenian Roglic gained a crucial time bonus of 57 seconds to 2nd placed Pogacar in General Classification and held the Yellow Jersey.
