London: Chelsea struggled to a 1-0 victory against 10-man Fulham on Saturday (January 16), who put up a solid show in the back for most of the game even after being rendered to one man less on the pitch.

Mason Mount scored Chelsea’s winning goal after 78 minutes. Antonee Robinson was sent off after a lunging tackle on Cesar Azpilicueta right before half-time mark. The first half was pretty much uneventful except this.

Although Chelsea dominated the possession, they struggled to create chances as Fulham pulled every player into the back and created a solid defence. It was Mount who managed to break the deadlock and yet again delivering for his team after Ben Chilwell’s shot got deflected and fell into his path.

With the victory, Chelsea went up to seventh place while Fulham struggle at 18th.“It feels good. You have to break the duck of some points we have lost. We kept going and going. We got what we deserved tonight. I trusted in the quality of the players. I had a feeling we would get the goal,” Chelsea coach Frank Lampard told the media after the win.

“I thought we did well tonight. We stayed patient. We tried to play. We got better and better and knicked the goal. I found myself in the box, which recently in the last couple of weeks I haven’t been doing as much,” Mount remarked after his goal helped Chelsea win.
