West Midlands: A sole strike from youngster Mason Greenwood helped Manchester United stretch a 28-game unbeaten streak with a 1-0 over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium on Sunday.

The Red devils are the first side in the Premier League to do so having started it with a 2-0 win last season against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge before Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s men have recorded 18 wins and 10 draws in their staggering run beating rivals Arsenal (27 matches) in the process.

The match though kicked-off with Wolves having the better of the opportunities in the first half. Adam Traore squared one for Raul Jimenez but the Mexican was denied by David de Gea while new Wolves Trincao got his chance shortly after that but his effort was cleared off the line by Wan-Bissaka. Mason Greenwood did flashed an effort for the visitors but it went just wide of the post just before the break. Wolves dominated the majority of the game especially through winger Traore who looked threatening throughout game as Solskjaer’s side found it difficult to cope with his pace and physicality.

The winner for Manchester United though came in the 80th minute after debutant Varane picked out Greenwood who surged in from the right flank before driving it low through Sa into the bottom-left corner. The Wolver players however were furious that a free-kick was not awarded after a tackle by Paul Pogba on Ruben Neves which lead to the the eventual goal scoring move.

The Red Devils, now placed at third will face Newcastle United on September 11 with possible featuring of their signing of the season Cristiano Ronaldo who would make his return to English football after 12 years.
