Chennai: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) tweeted a glimpse of the training session of Captain Cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Friday, (August 21), in which he was seen hitting sixes at will while Suresh Raina, standing just behind the nets, clapping and whistling in sheer joy.

Dhoni and Raina both announced their international retirements within a gap of few minutes on India’s 73rd Independence Day. Before leaving for UAE, CSK had scheduled a five-day strength and conditioning camp for all its Indian cricketers at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. CSK shared s 59 seconds video on Twitter, in which Dhoni was batting in full flow, hitting sixes off both seamers and pacers at will.

Besides giving an insight into their training, the video is an ignited evidence of the bonding between Dhoni and Raina. The video ends with Dhoni hitting a huge six and Raina, standing behind the nets, clapping and whistling in sterling joy.

“The boys had not trained for a long time and this was good for them. Coming after a break, they didn’t stretch themselves fully. That could have led to injuries. But the cricketers gradually found their rhythm. Dhoni is striking the ball very well and there were plenty of sixes in all directions. Dhoni was his usual self-relaxed, confident and happy,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said.

The 13th season of IPL will take place in the UAE from September 19th. The CSK squad will be in mandatory six-day quarantine. According to IPL protocol, last year defending champions Mumbai Indians are supposed to take on runners-up CSK in the inaugural match though BCCI is yet to announce the full schedule.
