New Delhi: Star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Wednesday shared a picture of himself in Test jersey saying that he has a long way to go on his road to recovery.

It seems Jadeja has made his message clear and loud in a cryptic way. Jadeja posted a picture of him in the Indian Test jersey and captioned it: “Long way to go”. This indicates that he is not thinking of retiring from Test cricket anytime soon. It also signaled that he is on his way to recovery.

This came a day after a report suggested that Jadeja might consider retirement from the longest format of the game to manage his workload and to manage his prolonged career, focussing on white-ball cricket.

Earlier, Jadeja had suffered a right forearm injury during the 1st Test match against New Zealand in Kanpur. He was advised to rest and hence he was ruled out of the second Test against New Zealand. Subsequently, he was ruled out of the South Africa tour, along with the likes of Shubman Gill and Axar Patel because of their respective injuries.

Recently, Test skipper Virat Kohli too shed light on Jadeja’s contribution to the Indian team in all three formats of the game. He stated that Jadeja’s absence will not be a deciding factor of the series saying that they have been able to create that kind of bench strength, during the pre-departure press conference for the South Africa tour.

“Jadeja has obviously been a very, very important play for us. He contributes to all three departments of the game, which is invaluable especially in overseas conditions. He will be missed,” Kohli said.

“But having said that, we do have quality in the side to be able to create the best combination possible on the field for us and still be in positions to win Test matches because we have created that kind of bench strength and environment where people coming in are seizing their opportunity and making sure the team is helped by their performances.”

“As much as we will miss him, I don’t think that will be a deciding factor in the series or moving forward. He is injured and I wish him a speedy recovery and that he comes back soon,” Kohli further added.
