Madrid: Real Madrid kept their hopes to qualify for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League with a 3-2 win over Inter Milan at home on Wednesday (November 4), thanks to a late winner from Rodrygo.

Zinedine Zidane’s men squeezed a win from the fixture, who are occupying at the third position in the group standings, just above Inter and below Borussia Moenchengladbach and with points level with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Real threw away a two-goal lead, and another defeat was on sight for the Men in White. They got off to a pretty stable start when goals from Karim Benzema (25th) and Sergio Ramos (33rd) put them ahead. Lautaro Martinez pulled one back before halftime on 35 minutes which was assisted by Nicolo Barella. It was also Ramos’ 100th goal for Real Madrid.

Ivan Perisic scored the equaliser on 68 minutes for Inter. The scoreline could have been different had not Inter missed the chances. Meanwhile, a combined effort from Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo gave Zidane’s men the much-needed lead on 80 minutes. Inter certainly missed their star striker Romelu Lukaku, who was out due to a thigh injury.
