Kolkata : The defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are set to kickstart IPL 2025 facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at iconic Eden Gardens, their very own den, on March 22, 2025, in the first match of the edition.
Last year proved to be a season of dominance for KKR as they not only topped the points table with 9 wins in 14 matches but also crushed dominant Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final to win their 3rd IPL title.
The duo of Gautam Gambhir and Shreyas Iyer clicked perfectly well. However, neither Gambhir nor Iyer are present in this season with the franchise. Gambhir joined Indian team as head coach, where on other hand, Shreyas wasn’t retained and eventually went to Punjab Kings in IPL 2025 Auction. KKR haven’t yet chosen a captain but it gonna be among Venkatesh Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Rinku Singh.
KKR will begin their campaign on March 22, 2025 against RCB, the same opponent against whom they played the opening match of IPL 2008, the inaugural season.
The Men in Purple will play 7 Matches at the Eden Gardens, with 2 afternoon games.Rest of the venues are in Guwahati, Wankhede (Mumbai) , Chennai, New Chandigarh, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru. They’ll play double headers with – 5 times champion CSK, SRH, RCB, PBKS, RR.
