New Delhi: Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar can be very good when it comes to spotting new talent. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya among several players who were backed by the ‘god of cricket’ went on to establish themselves in the highest level of the game.
The former Indian batter has now gone on to showered praise on young pace bowler, Mohammed Siraj saying he is a quick learner, and he always comes up with ‘something new’ every time he steps out onto the field.
“When he played last year in Australia when he made his debut in Melbourne, it never appeared like he was playing his first match. That was the maturity he showed. He builds up his spells so beautifully and thereon, he has not looked back. Every time I see him, there is something new that he introduces,” Tendulkar told veteran sports journalist Boria Majumdar on the show ‘Backstage with Boria’.

The 27-year-old Siraj began his journey in Australia late last year and hasn’t looked back since. He has been on the rise and is well on his way to becoming a regular starter in the Indian Test team setup. His crucial efforts on the field don’t go unnoticed and in addition to that, he was also impressed with the energy Siraj brings and he is a fast learner, said Tendulkar. Tendulkar highlighted these factors as the reason behind Siraj’s success in such a short span of time. he is a fast learner, said Tendulkar.
“There is spring in his legs and that is what I like to see. His run-up you can see he is full of energy. And he is one of those bowlers… when you look at him, you cannot figure out whether it’s the first or the last over of the day. He is coming at you all the time. He is a proper fast bowler and his body language is so positive. That is what I like. He is a fast learner,” Tendulkar added.
Siraj was ecstatic to receive high praise from the legendary Sachin Tendulkar ahead of the all-important South Africa Test series. Siraj termed Sachin’s words ‘a huge motivation’ for him. The 27-year old also explained how it meant more to him since the remarks came from one of India’s finest batters. Thanking Tendulkar Siraj further stated that he will always try his best to do well for the country.

Siraj will next be seen playing for India on their tour of South Africa. The first of the 3-match Test series begins on December 26 at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.
