Kochi: Kerala Blasters announced the signing of midfielder Rohit Kumar for the upcoming season of ISL. Starting his career at the Bhaichung Bhutia Football School he joined DSK Shivajians before captaining Delhi in the BC Roy Trophy in 2013. He was also a part of India U-19 squad in 2015.

“Joining Kerala Blasters was an easy decision for me since I’ve always wanted to play for the club. I hope to improve myself as a player every day, with the help of my coaches, teammates, management and specially the fans, to contribute to the vision of the club. With the support of my new squad, I wish to lift trophies for Kerala Blasters in the near future, because this club truly deserves it,” said Rohit.

In 2016, Rohit was promoted to the senior Delhi FC side for Durand Cup. Kumar did a reliable job with Delhi which earned him a contract with FC Pune City to debut in ISL. After completing two seasons with the Maharashtrian giants, Kumar moved to Hyderabad FC. The right-footed youngster scored a goal for the new club last season.

Adding depth in the midfield, Kerala Blasters Sporting Director Karolis Skinkys said, “It is my pleasure to welcome Rohit to Kerala Blasters. He is yet another quality addition to our mid-filed. I hope he explores all his potential with the team and we are ready to support him best possible manner.”
