Melbourne: Australian captain Tim Paine got trolled by netizens on Twitter after he was controversially dismissed as caught behind in the second innings of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) between India and Australia.

Trailing by 131 runs after the first innings, Aussies needed to put up a strong batting performance in the Boxing Day Test. However, skipper Tim Paine walked out to bat with his team in deep trouble at 98-5. In the 48th over, the Australian captain attempted to cut Ravindra Jadeja’s delivery but missed the stroke and the ball went straight to the wicketkeeper. However a huge appeal for caught behind was turned down by the umpire.

Ravindra Jadeja was sure about an edge, that’s propelled Ajinkya Rahane to take a review for caught behind. While there was nothing on the hotspot, there was a spike on the RTS as the ball passed Tim Paine’s bat. Thus, the third umpire requested the on-field umpire to reverse his decision and adjudge the Australian skipper out.
Paine was trolled because the rub of the green had gone his way in the first innings when he got the benefit of doubt in, what was a close run-out call.

After Tim Paine’s controversial run-out decision, fans on Twitter brutally trolled Paine by saying “Karma is real.” “Instant karma” wrote another user.
